Process of making Seamless mokume gane rings

Each ring is solid seamless mokume-gane, allowing the patterns flow around the bands without interruption. The front and back of each ring is shown. Seamless mokume bands are made using traditional mokume processes starting with billets of 15 to 49 layers. Each band is individually hand patterned and forged, taking more than 50 steps from start to finish.

Options - widths, sizes, patterns and metals

Each seamless mokume band is custom made. They are available from 3mm to 8mm wide, 1.9mm to 2.2mm thick and sizes 4 to 14. Each pattern is available in 14k palladium white gold and sterling silver, 18k yellow gold, 14k palladium white gold and sterling silver, and 14k green gold, 14k palladium white gold and sterling silver, and 500 palladium and sterling silver. I'm currently not offering seamless mokume bands with red gold. I use Argentium Sterling silver in seamless bands for its high tarnish resistance and hardening ability.

Patterns available are Birds Eye Seamless Woodgrain, Raindrop Seamless, Random Driftwood Seamless, and Random Water Seamless. The random patterns (Driftwood and Water) look different from each view and the non random patterns (Raindrop and Bird Eye) look roughly the same from each view.

Email for custom quote

Please email me at admin@mokume-gane-metals.com for a quote based on width, size and metal combination. As of January 2013, prices range from $1300 to $2900. Metal combination and width are the main factors affecting price, with wider bands costing more. The lowest price metal combo is 500 Palladium and Sterling. Because metal prices can change over time, quotes are good for 3 weeks. If you wait longer than 3 weeks to start your order, you should request a new quote by email.

Each band is custom made and the process from ordering your band to receiving your band, takes approximately 4 weeks. Sizing is confirmed by mail with brass sizers in the same width you order. I will mail sizers in your width and size, and a sizer 1/4 size larger and smaller. You should confirm your exact size a week before your ring is completed to keep your order on time. Sizes can also be made to the nearest 1/8 size if you are inbetween sizes. Your completed custom band will be mailed by US overnight mail with insurance and must be signed for or you can pick up your package at the post office the following day.
